MFS (formerly GEOD) provided base mapping of all planimetric features, including lighting poles, foundations, electrical equipment, power sources, utility facilities and other equipment and other topographic features that are necessary to design the proposed lighting improvements for the NJ Turnpike Northern and Southern mixing bowl locations.
Conventional surveying was utilized to supplement the aerial mapping. A visual field investigation was conducted to inspect and evaluate existing lighting, electrical and roadway safety elements. The field survey and field investigation were performed concurrently to reduce lane closures activities and schedule. Wetland flags were located. Supplemental surveying was conducted to obtain bridge clearances within the project corridors including structures crossing over the New Jersey Turnpike. Overhead Wires were Laser Scanned and delineated in 3D. GPR was used to determine the depth below the shoulder pavement to existing utilities that laterally cross underneath the Turnpike. All mapping was formatted in MicroStation V8i in accordance with current NJTA CADD specifications.
